The palace, with its vast courtyard, beautiful fountains, monumental archways, ochre stones, geometric arcades, hammams or baths and vaulted stables is a reflection of the power and the glory of the governor Emir Bechir el Chehab II. Of particular interest are the many beautiful Byzantine mosaics displayed in the beautifully restored stables.
